Eldercare, or caring for an older loved one, now affects 15 to 25 percent of the American workforce. Caregivers often struggle to balance work and eldercare obligations. To help full-time employees balance work demands while taking care of their aging parents, Indiana University provides an Eldercare benefit through My Health Care Manager.

The Personalized Eldercare Program ^SM provides access to a health care manager (a nurse or social worker) who works with caregivers and seniors on a one-to-one basis to address unique concerns anywhere in the U.S. A health care manager will work with IU employees to understand the care giving situation; identify a strategy for managing it; and develop a plan of action to follow with or without continuing My Health Care Manager assistance.

Eligibility
All full-time Academic and Staff employees of Indiana University are eligible to use the services of My Health Care Manager.

Plan Fees
The Personalized Eldercare Program ^SM consists of three levels: (1) information call, (2) fact finding consultation and recommendation, and (3) ongoing assistance specific to situational needs. IU covers the cost of levels 1 and 2 and it has negotiated reduced rates with My Health Care Manager for level 3. Full-time employees may use the services in one or all levels.
